President Obama Official PortraitAIDS Prevention, Birth Control & Underutilized Fame

I predicted that the cure to AIDS would result in a sexual revolution, but the pharmaceutical companies have taken that into consideration well ahead of time.  AIDS is biological warfare with the intended result to reduce the population of a chosen community of people, you check the statistics and you will know exactly who they are, as long as you understand there is always unintended damage.

What is America’s history of famous people?  Are they the voices for Americans?  What are the expectations we hold on celebrities?  We see them live large or should I say extravagantly and we see the waste as a symbol of power and not weakness.  We hear about contract riders by singers demanding stupidity and think he is a bad man in a good way, when all the time the promoter is hoodwinking the performing in givebacks.  Yet we see power!

Now ask yourself is it power to be silent about important things?  Or is it a sign of a house Negro to play along with the master plotter.  Today’s exciting news is the new ring that can be inserted in a woman to not only prevent AIDS but as a birth control method first.  In other words we will stop killing off black women if they stop having so many damn babies.  Not one person asks can you stop the spread of AIDS now and not 5 years from now, without the condition of birth control.  I mean we are in a state of emergency and we have to wait 5 years for AIDS prevention while the birth control method is tested?  As birth control is justified due to the new economic conditions?

Is it the same old thing, we give black folks voices as long as they talk loud and say nothing, such as I wrote a book but I do not read (Kenye West); Is she pregnant is she not (Janet) Legalize same sex marriages (Black Radio Personality MB on KISS), but no one brings it to the forefront that if you remotely have the possible solution to cease the spread of AIDS how can the FDA not push this through, or is it what it is being promoted as being which is a less evasive form of population control to replace AIDS. Alicia I am calling on you; the question has to be posed all the way to the White House.  President Obama what is the deal?

MJJHR 848 & S. 379 are Bills & no Royalty Act yet

Performance Royalties:

The United States Congress will yet again reflect on the issue of Royalty Payments to the performing artists by American Radio stations.

Reps. Gene Green (D. Texas), Mike Conaway (R. Texas) and 110 co-sponsors have presented a declaration in support of “Local Radio Freedom “ in opposition of what they consider a new performance fee in the name of royalties levied against radio stations in America.

Correspondently the supporters of the performance royalty have re-introduced new legislation such as  S. 379 sponsored by Sen. Patrick Leahy (D. Vt.) and HR. 848, sponsored by Rep John Conyers (D. Mich.).

The House and Senate versions are basically the same, but controlled by Democrats as the opposition is by Republicans.  A similar bill was passed by the Judiciary Committees in both chambers last session a hearing was held already which is an indication of an agreement is forthcoming within the committee to  grant a performance royalty on American Radio, yet it is still a matter of debate.  The question is not whether or not artist deserves to get paid for their performance as do writers and producers, but where does the money come from.  I think blank CD’s and DVD’s should be taxed to supplement this bill against radio station, they should no carry the burden alone.

Immediate action is anticipated by both the House and Senate however the speculation is that the final bill will not become an Act prior to the end of the current session.

It was reported on 98.7 Kiss FM by Michael Baisden that the bill was blocked, that may not be actually factual.  But I agree that radio should not carry this burden alone, but it is a Democrat sponsored bill in a Democrat House and Senate and will probably in one form or another be passed.  Let us hope it does not destroy radio as we know it.  But such an Act would totally revive the careers of artist with long histories of performances like Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston who receive heavy radio airplay and has a history with a catalog that goes back over 20 years.

Michael BaisdenRadio Performance Royalty Bill HR 848

Introduced on 4 February 2009:

Performance Rights Act – Amends federal copyright law to:

(1) Grant performers of sound recordings equal rights to compensation from terrestrial broadcasters;
(2) establish a flat annual fee in lieu of payment of royalties for individual

In view of the fact that since the beginning the standard in American Radio was that Broadcasters did not have to pay artist performance royalties as they did pay (songwriters) royalties because they allegedly promoted the artist and was a service to the artist.  However, Internet Radio, Satellite Radio and the distribution of MP-3’s having drastically transformed the music scene.  So the United States Congress is responding with due diligence to this fundamental flaw in the industry.

Question: Is this true today, does radio broadcasters name the artist after each song these days?  I mean artist like Janet Jackson and Michael we just know them when we hear them, but how about the new artists?

Many radio stations are in opposition to the new legislation, but this legislation is designed to preserve the American way, because if the artists continue to get cheated they will cease to exist, than radio will have nothing to play of good quality.  A frontrunner in opposition is Michael Baisden of Kiss 98.7 one of the hottest shows on radio syndicated nationwide.

Maybe there might be a middle ground that has to be found, that is cost effective to both sides such as increased costs to advertise and a few pennies on the products we buy in stores to cover the costs, but the artist has to be paid for the industry to continue to produce quality music.  Maybe even a tax on blank CD’s!

As we know with the new music scene album sales are down, perhaps the production of SACD formatted albums could help some, but the fact of the matter is that most people listen to MP-3 and radio as a source of music listening pleasure.  The artist of the future will have to cater to seeking radio airplay as opposed to record sales.  A hit to the future artist will be determined by how much airplay they get, so the bill is a good bill, but the costs has to be absorbed by the consumers across the board in the form of slightly high consumer prices across the board.  That is my opinion what is yours?

The Message of the Day

You will find yourself in situations where confrontation is necessary — not every day perhaps but enough to realize it is going to be a feature over the next 12 months or so. That’s good. You need to toughen up and recognize how much more you are capable of.

Your feelings tend to be a bit fragile at this time of year but that is not an excuse to avoid challenging situations. Your heightened sensitivity will help you make the right decisions.
